Music

Our Vision (Intent)

At St. Andrew's CE Primary School, our over-arching aim is for pupils to feel they are musical and for them to develop a life-long love of music. We focus on developing the skills, knowledge and understanding that pupils need in order to become confident and resilient performers, composers and listeners, now and in the future.

Pupils are introduced to music from all around the world and across generations; to respect and appreciate the music of all traditions and different communities.

Our curriculum provides our pupils with opportunities to:

  • Develop the musical skills of singing, playing tuned and untuned instruments
  • Improve and compose music.
  • Listen and respond to music.
  • Develop an understanding of the historical and cultural context of music.
  • Develop transferable skills as learners that can be used in and outside of school.
