Ofsted & Music Teaching - The New Framework - Manwaring Music Education ...

OFSTED June 2026

We are pleased to share our recent Ofsted report with you.

The report recognises many strengths of St Andrew's, particularly our highly inclusive ethos, the strong pastoral support we provide, and the positive relationships between pupils and staff. Inspectors noted that "vulnerable pupils thrive at this highly inclusive school" and described pupils as "happy, safe and valued members of this caring school community."

We were especially pleased that inspectors highlighted the excellent support provided for pupils with additional needs, the high levels of participation in clubs, music and sport, and the strong sense of community that exists within our school. They also recognised that pupils behave well, attend regularly and enjoy positive, trusting relationships with staff.

The report acknowledges the significant improvements made since the previous inspection in areas including personal development, early years provision, inclusion and attendance. Inspectors noted that children in Reception "learn with purpose and joy" and that pastoral support is a particular strength of the school.

The inspection also identified areas where we must continue our work, particularly in ensuring that high-quality teaching is consistently delivered across the curriculum so that all pupils achieve as highly as they can. These priorities align closely with our own school improvement plans.

I would like to thank our pupils, staff, governors and families for their support and commitment. We are proud of the many strengths recognised in the report and remain ambitious in our drive to provide the very best education for every child.
