Computing
Our Vision (Intent)
At St Andrew’s Primary School, our computing curriculum aims to instil a sense of enjoyment and confidence around using technology and to develop knowledge, understanding and appreciation of its capabilities and the opportunities technology offers to create, manage, organise and collaborate.
We want pupils to be resilient and confident when encountering new technology, which is a vital skill in the ever evolving and rapidly changing landscape of technology. Throughout our curriculum, we intend for pupils not only be digitally competent and have a range of transferable skills at a suitable level for the future workplace, but also to be responsible online citizens.
Aims:
To develop pupils who:
- Are responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology.
- Know how to keep themselves safe whilst using technology and on the internet and be able to minimise risk to themselves and others.
- Become responsible, respectful and competent users of data, information and communication technology.
- Can evaluate and apply information technology, including new or unfamiliar technologies, analytically to solve problems.
- Can analyse problems in computational terms, and have repeated practical experience writing computer programs in order to solve such problems.
- Can understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science, including abstraction, logic, algorithms and data representation.
- Become digitally literate and are active participants in a digital world, equipped with the capability to use technology throughout their lives.
